The History of Regulateurs Europa
In January 1954 Ardleigh Engineering (the former name for Regulateurs Europa) was formed to design, develop and produce mechanical governors for the speed control of large diesel engines. At the same time the Company was developing other products including by-pass valves, speed switches, overspeed trips and control systems. This development continues to present day.
In 1958 RE purchased a small governor manufacturing business in Holland. It was following this acquisition that in 1962 the Company became Regulateurs Europa.
Organisation and Structure
In Colchester RE has full design and manufacturing facilities for mechanical and electronic governors, actuators as well as complex control and monitoring systems for the Marine, Industrial and Rail Traction industries.
The Roden facility manufactures and overhauls mechanical governors and actuators and provides sales and customer support in mainland Europe.
Products
It is possible to list the standard products produced by RE but such a list would not convey the true ability of Regulateurs Europa. The reality is that the Company offers comprehensive control engineering capability and has the ability to provide a total power management solutions.
Much of RE's work is contract or project specific. We work closely with our customers to develop control and power management solutions to meet their very specific requirements. This almost unique position in the market makes us one of the few governor companies that can engineer a full power management and monitoring system from conception to installation and service.
However, we do have packaged solutions that could be considered as standard products.
These include:
- Local Engine and Alternator Panels (LEAP)
- Remote Engine and Alternator Panels (REAP) MVCP, a fully integrated governing and propulsion control unit
- Viking Traction, a fully integrated power controller for traction use.
